According to Norse Mythology, the nine realms of the world are held within the branches of Yggdrasil – the world tree.

The Nine Worlds are the homelands of the beings of the Norse belief as follows :

Midgard, our world, the world of humanity
Asgard, the world of the Aesir tribe of gods and goddesses
Vanaheim, the world of the Vanir tribe of gods and goddesses
Jotunheim, the world of the giants
Niflheim, the primordial world of ice
Muspelheim, the primordial world of fire
Alfheim, the world of the elves
Svartalfheim, the world of the dwarves
Hel, the world of the eponymous goddess Hel and the dead

In Greek Mythology Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete, mostly known for her association with labyrinths and mazes due to her having assisted Theseus in his quest to slay the Minotaur. 

She then fled with Theseus aboard his ship. However, when they landed on the island of Naxos, Theseus abandoned her as she was sleeping. It was here that the god Dionysos discovered her and made her his wife.
